It’s been a busy weekend for the Shelby County Republican Party, with volunteers participating in a variety of capacities to further the conservative cause. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank each of them for their service and dedication to the party.

First off, special thanks to Columbiana Mayor and executive committee member Alan Lowe for "primo" location provided for SCGOP booth! Next, a huge "thank you" to Lisa Byars, Kendyll Covington (Shelby County Teenage Republicans), Brandi Efferson, Kelsey Efferson (Shelby County Teenage Republicans), Mildred Lanier, Andrew Plaster, Danny Rumley, Sharon Travis, and Melody Warbington, who worked the SCGOP booth at Columbiana’s Liberty Day celebration on Saturday. Despite the heat, our volunteers enjoyed the event, the music, and the interaction of those who passed by or stopped in at the booth. Volunteers also reported the almost universal outrage at the Supreme Court healthcare ruling, thus affirming the Republican position that the Affordable Care Act is bad for America.

In addition, the Shelby County Republican Party is excited to announce that invitations to our annual Reagan-Lincoln Dinner, occurring Friday, July 20 at The American Village, have been mailed. Despite short notice, Jason DeLuca, April DeLuca, Matt Fridy, Charles Knight, Cathy Knight, Lee Laechelt, Luke Marshall, Andrew Plaster, Dawn Ray, Susan Todt, Lauren Wyatt, and Melody Warbington met at the SCGOP Headquarters Friday night to stuff envelopes, apply postage and mail the almost 700 invitations. If you haven’t received your invitation in the next few days, please contact the SCGOP headquarters so we can send you one!

Please note that the SCGOP does not yet have Romney campaign materials, nor does the state party (yet!). We have received several requests for bumper stickers, signs, and other campaign materials, and will be sure to let all of you know when they are here for distribution.
